Eye

Eye problems can affect everything—from reading and working to your confidence in daily life. At Kampala Independent Hospital, we offer a wide range of non-surgical eye services for both adults and children, with care focused on accurate diagnosis and effective treatment.

Whether you’re experiencing blurry vision, headaches from eye strain, watery eyes, discomfort, or persistent redness, our team can help identify the cause and manage it appropriately.

Common Eye Conditions We Treat

1) Refractive Errors (Glasses/Contacts Support)

If you have blurred vision due to:

  • Near-sightedness (myopia)

  • Far-sightedness (hyperopia)

  • Astigmatism
We provide eye examinations and help correct vision through prescription lenses and guidance on contact lenses when appropriate.

2) Dry Eye & Eye Irritation

Dry eye can cause:

  • Burning or stinging

  • Redness

  • Watery eyes (yes, it can feel watery!)

  • Blurred vision that comes and goes
Treatment may include lifestyle guidance, lubricating drops, and other non-surgical therapies based on your needs.

3) Allergic Conjunctivitis

If your eyes are:

  • Itchy

  • Watery

  • Red
We can evaluate allergy-related inflammation and recommend appropriate eye drops and prevention strategies to reduce flare-ups.

4) Infections & Inflammation

We assess and treat non-surgical eye conditions such as:

  • Bacterial or viral conjunctivitis

  • Mild inflammation of the eye surface
Depending on the findings, treatment may include medication and follow-up monitoring.

5) Glaucoma Screening & Monitoring

Glaucoma can develop quietly without obvious symptoms early on. We provide:

  • Pressure checks

  • Optic nerve evaluation

  • Vision testing so cases can be detected early and managed with medication and regular follow-up.

6) Cataract Assessment

While a cataract may eventually require surgery, we can still help by:

  • Assessing cataract severity

  • Managing symptoms in the meantime (e.g., vision optimisation strategies)

  • Monitoring progression so you can plan appropriately.

7) Pediatric Eye Care

Children may need non-surgical support for:

  • Poor vision or lazy eye (amblyopia)

  • Squint-related alignment concerns

  • Eye strain or refractive issues
We offer eye exams and treatment plans to support healthy visual development.

Our Diagnostic & Treatment Approach

Our non-surgical eye services are built on:

  • Thorough eye examinations

  • Accurate diagnosis using appropriate clinical assessments

  • Personalised treatment plans based on the cause of your symptoms

  • Clear follow-up so you know what to expect next
